brief update about me

28 Feb

3 down, 13 to go…
I applied to some boeing jobs online (16) I am currently ‘under consideration’ for 13 of those (the other three i was ‘rejected’ i guess. I really really want to work for boeing. It would be really sweet. They do A LOT of space stuff, so that’s definately what i want to do. At the job fair i went to last week, boeing was represented and the guy’s description of the company talked a lot about their space stuff and I was getting really excited when I heard that. That is definately what I want to do with my life. It really sucks being an OE major cause that’s what most people focused on… oh you’re an OE major, well… sucks to be you So I’ve switched back to getting both diploma’s that way i can legitamately say i’m an AE major (which is more applicable to what I want to do anyways)

Since I’m going to be doing the whole 5-year plan it will give me a better chance to get an internship with boeing, and to build up my resumé more before I go out into the job market. It’s still 3 years down the road but right now, boeing is looking pretty damn good.

Spring break
not doin anything, no story there.

Hitch (the movie)
I highly recommend it, it’s a great movie. I’ll write up a post about it later to talk about some of the stuff in it that i thought was particularly good.

more later… just wanted to make a post that emphasized the fact that i’m still alive and [relatively] well.

well… crap

The resolution is set to 1024 x 768 (that’s what my monitor is). I can make it higher res if anyone wants it.

The crap part in the title is the fact that I had a nice post worked up, but then I started making that background above. At some point when I was screwing around with my computer photoshop crashed, causing explorer to crash… and my firefox window got closed… so i lost my post. It happens.

Something interesting: A star-quake occured recently. On the other side of the galaxy a star exploded that, in 1/10th of a second, released more energy than our sun will in 100,000 years.

Star-quake

Astronomers say they have been stunned by the amount of energy released in a star explosion on the far side of our galaxy, 50,000 light-years away.

If the explosion had been within just 10 light-years, Earth could have suffered a mass extinction, it is said.

I read that and was surprised. 10 light years is a very long distance. 10 lightyears is about… 58,784,998,100,000 miles, and if something that far away caused everything on this planet to die, that is simply spectacular.
