Wow…

29 Jun

This is a ‘mobile’ post… I’m emailing it from my new ipaq, which I received in the mail today. The reason mobile is in quotes is because i’m sitting right next to my regular computers. My ipaq is a lot smaller than I thought it would be. I’m very happy with it thus far. Typing will take a bit of getting used to, but I’m doing fine so far. I’ve only had to make a few corrections so far, and some of them were errors I would’ve made on my regular computer.

I’m posting from this for 2 reasons… 1) to practice typing… And 2) to see how quickly the battery wears down. This thing is going to be amazingly handy next year in school!

I’ve been doing the breakers workout that Ron gave me pretty consistenly, and I’m noticing a difference. Pretty good for not going to the gym.

If you catch me online on the screenname MobileMartz it’s me on my ipaq. It should be on pretty consistently… When I’m not at work… Now that I have this.

My typing speed is improving fairly quickly. Occasionally I can look up from the keys and not make mistakes! It’s weird, the exclamation point has a dedicated key!!!! I wasn’t aware that it was that frequently used by people to warrant it’s own key, or maybe I’m just not that exciting!

This should be good enough of a post. I may goto bed early tonight, courtesy of the breakers workout and there being nothing on tv :( I can’t wait to get back to tech. Hopefully Ron ‘The Man’ Forbes can work his Omega magic and get housing to let me move in a few days early…
I’d even be willing to help out with the RHF stuff. Seems like a fair trade to me, and I don’t mind the hard labor involved in carrying countless lofts and safety rails up 7 flights of stairs ;)

Nite folks

Reviews

Will be coming soon. I’m going to setup another page system, so once they’re up they will be at reviews.mattmartz.com I should be receiving my new pocket pc tomorrow via UPS and I have everything else that I need to make the reviews (except writing talent… but whatever) I may actually write my next entry and submit it using my new pocket pc.

Fredericksburg

…was a lot of fun on Saturday. I spent the day with Amanda and had a great time… though in my stupidity I forgot to take pictures… oops. I got my xbox game, had a full tour of Fredericksburg, good italian food, and saw Batman Begins again (well worth it)

Caffeine

I think i’m addicted. I didn’t have a soda at dinner and I’m exhausted now. I didn’t have one on purpose as a little experiment and I suppose my hypothesis was correct. I’ll repeat this again tomorrow. Then Thursday I will try not having a soda at lunch and dinner (which may prove to be difficult) At least I should sleep well tonight.

Gmail and Goodness

Gmail

Gmail is AWESOME. Insanely useful. Over two gigabytes of storage. It’s taken me a while so far (and I’m no where near done) but i’ve been uploading all of my old email that i’ve stored on my computer in outlook up onto gmail and it’s just fantastic. The program i’m using keeps crashing… and I haven’t even attempted to fix the crashed folders, so this could take quite a while. I’ve got about 400 megabytes of email, which goes back to January(ish) 2003. If you want to send me some email that way my address is Matt (dot) Martz (at) gmail [dot] com. My other email address still works as always… but I figure I should get the migration over cause in two years I don’t think I’ll be able to keep my tech email address. (I also found out today that I can access gmail from work, so all my vt email will now be forwarded to that address… once i get everything set up).

Goodness

This week has just been filled with goodness. I bought a new computer case with a window on the side and a biohazard symbol over it, with blue lights (internally lit). It will be sitting on my desk next year and look awesome. So excellent for that!
I also bought a new HP h4355 to replace my Dell Axim. It has a built in keyboard and integrated wifi and bluetooth. It should be great for me to use at tech, so that while I’m on the ‘ac’ side of campus I can go on instant messenger, check email, write an essay (ha), surf the net or whatever (all between classes i’m sure).
And tomorrow TWO great things happen. First and most important: I get to hang out with Amanda Pugh all day, who I don’t have any pictures of… which i’ll correct tomorrow. My parents were going to goto Fredericksburg for shopping and whatnot so I’ll get to hang out with her while they shop. She said something about seeing Batman Begins which I saw the other night with a bunch of my friends from here. Well worth seeing again, and with the said company, who could resist? Second: I will be buying Conker: Live and Reloaded. It’s a hilariously fun/awesome game telling the story of Conker the Squirrel who got wasted with some friends one night and is trying to make his way home to his girlfriend. He encounters death (whos name is Gregg) and a lot of hilarious characters (almost sounds like i’m trying to sell the game doesn’t it?)

Within the next week, or two, expect reviews of:

And I’m sure I can find some other stuff. But now I’m out of here.
