Monday I officially accepted a job with the Naval Acquisition Internship Program. It’s a 30 month work-rotation program. Every 4 months I’ll be doing a different engineering job, most (?) of which will be related to Submarines because I’m in the Sub Group. Amy (another OE) also was offered the same position in the same group. It’ll be cool if she takes it.
Today I did a bit of apartment research. I want to get a place in the Arlington area, I know a few people up around there. Brian and Andy’s place was nice, but I’ve read a few negative things about it (elevators always being down, bad management, those type of things). So I think my number 1 option is Birchwood apartments. It’s a block or two away from those guys and, more importantly, a block or two away from a metro stop. I’ll be commuting to the Navy Yard everyday via the Metro. So I’ll have to walk a block or two from my apartment to the metro, then 5 blocks from the Metro to the Yard. In the next couple of month I need to buy a second phone (one without a camera). I might try and find a cheap blackberry so I can just switch the SIM card in/out when I goto work. Something that can play music would be nice for my commute, though I could probably just buy a cheap mp3 player.
Now I only have to worry about finishing my Masters. My tentative start date for work is Mid-August. My apartment lease runs out in June. I can use the summer to finish my thesis, but I’m going to try and finish it before. Which means I need to take Winter break and finish 1/2 - 3/4 of my thesis work, writing it along the way. Dr Neu, Dr Brown and Dr Stillwell are on my committee. It’s pretty neat work.
Oh and I switched the theme of my site back to the last one, and modified it a bit more. Boo ya!
