im no super genius like any of you guys, but i had an idea, if you combined all of your ideas you may have a shot at it. plus, chris hull says that it cannot control other devices, but if you had the technology that the iphone has you could control other things. for example, the iphone has new technology that enables the iphone to turn lightswitches off and on. this could be a lead, but as i said, i am no genius.

Hi, after reading the comments posted. I would like to inform you that the Jarvis system in Iron Man is based on a prototype home control system. I myself, have have made a similar sytem in which i can communicate with and it talks back. The software is no way advanced as the films, and it can not control other devices. But, on the up side, i can contol it using my hands, iphone and soon hopefully the iPad. Thought you would like to know that i have also tryed to create this brilliant tech! Looks like we will just ahve to wait for software and hardware to get just a little bit better!

We think your idea to build JARVIS is fascinating. Altough, We have made a patented version of JARVIS called “SmartButler”. Check it out, and in after the two weeks demo, i think you will want to buy it.

I built an Adobe AIR widget in a few hours that tells the current weather for a given location, no speech yet but I will look at adding it if there is interest.

It’s not as full blown as physicistjedi’s but it will run on MAC, PC and Linux.

Hey Aaron, I’m actually going the same route as yourself. That’s how I’m building my Jarvis. Take a look at the convo between myself and Justin. I’ve just started concentrating attention to Jarvis again so decided to take a look at these posts again.

Java, aiml (Program D but may find something else), MacSpeech Dictate (not always accurate, but so far best solution out there for free speech), Normal speech recognition (has obvious restrictions – finite number of phrases), ruby

Those are the technologies I’m using.

Anybody. I really need help building jarvis. My idea is a little different. It is a computer project but it is put into sunglasses/eyeglasses. There is a microphone and earphones. I’ve already started building my own “jarvis”, Like you all said it is a challenge but one person (or two people if you want someone to do the voice of the program) can do it with enough determination I cannot make a learning program however I have given the program internet access to find out info on whatever I ask, it uses a voice recognition program then searches both yahoo and wiki answers and takes the answer that comes up most often and outputs it. It is currently unfinished and has limited responses for every question I could ask but does pick from randomly from twenty different possible answers (this is for non internet questions) and I sometimes find myself asking it an opinion of my clothes because it seems to be having a real conversation at which point I have it say “sorry no response available” It is still very far from being finished and only works on vista. Oh and every time I install a new programonto my laptop I have to write extra code (that’s a lie I use a module library.) but it’s shaping up to be pretty decent.
